Our pur­pose in bring­ing this col­lec­tion of es­says to­geth­er was to in­sert craft into the grow­ing con­tem­po­rary de­bate about what it means to work with oth­ers.

Col­lab­o­ra­tion Through Craft de­scribes ex­chan­ges be­tween in­di­vid­u­als and ac­ross dis­ci­pli­nary bound­a­ries that are free­ly en­ter­ed into, and that through joint en­deav­our leave one or both of those sides sig­nif­i­cant­ly changed. The book has its or­i­gins in the Pair­ings proj­ect, led by Alice Ket­tle in 2008 and the Pair­ings: Con­ver­sa­tions, Col­lab­o­ra­tions, Ma­te­ri­als con­fer­ence, co-curated by Alice Ket­tle and I in 2011.
